EASTER OFFERING

Every year, at the Easter Service, we receive an offering for ministries outside of Central. This year, our offering will be divided equally between Central’s Missions Endowment Fund and Ben & Alicia Dewbury. Please be praying about how the Lord may be asking you to participate!

  • Missions Endowment Fund. The Missions Endowment Fund is a permanent investment fund, established by the people of Central in 2012, where the income each year produces grants to fund local and global missions work. Currently the fund is at $722,040 and typically produces over $25,000 in grants each year, 100% of which are invested in missions efforts beyond our church. Each contribution to this fund has the potential to impact generations to come with the Gospel!

  • Ben & Alicia Dewbury. Ben and Alicia Dewbury and family have been serving in Belize for the past 8 years. They have 4 biological children and 4 foster children in their family. Their ministry in Belize focuses on vulnerable and at-risk children. During these years they have opened up their home to countless children and have developed a foster care network within the country. They also began a local business to offer employment to women, and now also men, who are wanting to support their families. During the worst of Covid their mobile market ministry reached far and wide into the country and helped to sustain local businesses.

Last fall their lives took an unexpected turn when Avery, their third child (14yrs), was diagnosed with metastasized osteogenic sarcoma. Alicia came immediately to Canada with Avery as Belize did not have the resources available for treatment for her. They have seen God move to spare Avery’s leg from amputation. However, she just had a very challenging surgery that requires her to retrain her muscles, tendons and ligaments. She had a large section of her bone and surrounding muscle removed and a donor bone put into place. Another 3-5 months of chemotherapy is expected for her.

Ben has remained in Belize except for short visits to Edmonton when Avery had her surgery. The family is awaiting the issuing of visas for their four Belizean children so that the family can all be together. On top of the stress of cancer, the family not being together has added to this very challenging situation.

The Dewbury family have had many financial challenges and God has been faithful! There is work to be done on the house in Belize to make it ready for Avery’s return as well as work to be carried out on the house that Alicia and Avery are living in just now. There are medical bills which continue to mount up now and during the coming months as well as extra travel costs. We would ask you to prayerfully give towards this family.
