Connors Hill | Women's Prayer Group

You are invited to a morning of connection and prayer. The purpose is to meet for a time to connect with other women from Connors Hill over coffee/tea and to pray for each other and the world around us. It meets one Saturday per month at 10am. Bonnie Schwalfenberg leads this group; please email her for more information and to let her know if you plan to attend an upcoming date. There is no need to commit to every session - come when you can, and feel free to invite a friend!

Our next meeting will be Saturday, April 26th at 10am in Bonnie’s home.

Join us for our YA Park Takeover Night at Gallagher Park! We’ll be playing games like soccer, tossing a frisbee, lounging in the grass, and enjoying a picnic together.

Bring some food if you’d like (picnic baskets welcome ), but no pressure if you don’t — just come hang out, move around a bit, and enjoy the evening with friends. Bring a friend, your park game face, and maybe a blanket. It’s gonna be a good one!

Join us on Wednesday, April 30th at 7pm at our Southeast site to learn more about making Central your church home. You will hear about our vision and direction at Central, and you’ll have an opportunity to get to know others who are starting to plug in at Central, too.

This class is for all three sites and is designed for those who would like to learn more about Central or for those who would like to formally join the church. If you'd like to join the church, please come prepared to share a 3-4 minute version of your faith story (in small groups).

Ladies of Sherwood Park, we are doing a drop-in gathering on the 10th of each month. No registration required, just come and connect!

Games Night! Back by popular demand, our May Connect Event will be another Games Night at the church! Bring a favourite game and a shareable snack if you like, or just come and join for a time of connecting over board games!

New for this games night, we are including the option to get outside and play some pickleball! If you'd like to join the pickleball fun, wear some running shoes and bring a paddle if you have one (we will have extras available for those who don't). No skill or experience required. We will give a short lesson at the start then just have some fun hitting the ball around in a fun and relaxed environment (weather permitting).

Board gamers and pickleball players all meet at the church at 7pm. Those participating in pickleball will carpool to the outdoor courts nearby and be back to the church at 9pm.

From a city-wide adventure in The Great 125 Race to an afternoon festival, a BBQ feast, and an evening after-party, Saturday is packed with ways to reconnect and reminisce. Then on Sunday, gather with us for a powerful Worship Celebration at the Winspear Centre, followed by coffee and cookies at the location of Central’s first home.

CKM | SE I Wonder Day Camp

In partnership with Global Aware Care and YEG Summer Camps, Central Baptist will offer a Summer Day Camp from June 30 through July 4 (it will not meet on July 1) at our Southeast Site.

“I Wonder” is a summer day-camp for kids going into grades 1-6. This camp is built for kids and focuses on curiosity! In this 4-part VBS series, the goal is to engage kids’ imaginations and harness their natural desire to wonder. They’ll not only get curious about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics —they’ll get curious about the God who created it all!

The camp will run June 30th and July 2nd-4th from 9am-12pm, or your child can stay for the full day (until 4:30pm.) The price is $50 for 9 AM -12 PM or $99 for full-day care, which includes programming from Global Aware Care/YEG Summer Camps

This summer, we are offering a Summer Soccer Camp in conjunction with Athletes in Action. It is for kids who are 6-12 years old as of the dates of camp. The camp will run from August 5 - 7, 2025, 9am-3pm at École Maurice Lavallee (8828 - 95 St NW) weather and air quality permitting. In the event of bad weather, we will run it at the Connors Hill site for Central Baptist Church (9419 - 95 St NW)

Easter Services

Join us on Easter Sunday, April 20th, as we celebrate that Jesus’ death was not the end of the story. He is alive! These services are a great opportunity to invite a friend to consider the good news of Jesus and life found in Him. Easter Sunday services will be held at Connors Hill, Southeast and Sherwood Park at 9am & 11am. The service will be live streamed Online at 9am followed by on demand.

On Easter Sunday, we have an exciting opportunity to partner with Camp Falcon Rock (CFR) in Romania through a special offering. CFR is doing incredible work, providing a place where young people and families can experience the love of Christ through dynamic camps, leadership development, and discipleship. The camp’s impact continues to grow, serving as a beacon of hope and transformation in the region. You are invited to an Easter Potluck Lunch for our 55+ and Seniors Crowd on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 12-1:30pm. We will gather in the Connors Hill gym. We will enjoy lunch together, sing some Easter hymns led by Greg Miazga and hear a short devotional about Easter from Pastor Tom.

Critical Conversations

Parents, guardians and caregivers are invited to an evening of conversation, learning and desserts at our Critical Conversations event on Saturday, April 12th from 7-9pm at Connors Hill (9419 95 ST NW).

Come join the conversation! The topic for April 12th is “Family Discipleship - the 5 Most Impactful Habits,” presented by Christie Thomas who has written a number of books for kids and families. She will share some ideas to help you go to the next level (no matter where you are starting from) in discipling your kids. If you are already doing family discipleship in a way that works, please join us to share your experiences with others. This event is for adults only, so unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate kids or youth.

Admission is a $5 suggested donation. This event is open to the public. Please invite your friends who may benefit from this opportunity especially if they are without a church family of their own.

Echelon is for students who want to dig deep. Echelon is open to all youth students but it is geared towards High School students. Echelon is a commitment based Bible study where students are expected to do homework, read scripture, have discussions and commit to weekly attendance.

We will meet on Wednesday evenings in the Youth Room at Connors Hill from 7-9pm starting April 9th.

Our largest Central Women gathering of the year, for all women at all sites, is happening Saturday, April 5th from 11am-1pm. The focus of the event is "Refresh & Renew" and we're planning for a time of worship, devotion, fellowship, and a spring-picnic-inspired meal. Registration is now open! Sign up HERE. Our next G@P gathering will be on Tuesday, April 1st at 7pm at our Southeast site.

Dr. John Trent and his oldest daughter, Kari Stageberg, will introduce on video, the concept of The Blessing. You’ll hear how in graduate school, Kari walked away from family and faith. For 5 years she was lost in a horrible, abusive relationship, yet God miraculously rescued her. If you have a “hard to bless” child or grandchild, this will be a hugely helpful story of grace and love you need to hear.

Refreshments and coffee will be available. We hope you’ll join us!

On March 7-9 we will head out to Camp Caroline with the ABA for the Sr High Retreat! This is a high energy, high impact retreat for Sr High students across the Alberta Baptist Association churches.

You won’t want to miss this special evening with some of Central’s youth together with Southeast’s Youth and Worship leader, Mike Pronk. They will be leading us in music and then we’ll hear from them in regards to issues (both hard and heart warming) at school, sports, social media, and with friends. This will encourage us to pray more effectively for our own grandkids and their parents and our youth.

We’ll provide the pizza, assorted beverages and Timbits for $10/per person but we need you to RSVP HERE so we know how much to order. We hope to see you there!
