Addiction in Youth

All three sites are invited to a special presentation on Addiction in Youth on Tuesday, November 5th at 7pm at our Southeast site, hosted by Central's G@P ministry (Grandparents at Prayer).

Many youth and adults are struggling with addictions which often lead to relationship problems or even homelessness or suicide.

Syd Bergsma, Church Relations at Hope Mission and long-time youth pastor, and others will share early signs of addiction that we as parents, grandparents, and friends can be aware of in our youth and ways we can help them get back on a road to recovery. He'll open it up for a time of Q&A at the end, and coffee and refreshments will be provided. We hope you'll join us.

Please RSVP HERE so we can plan accordingly!

Loving Prodigals

Loving Prodigals

The parable of the prodigal son is one of Jesus’ most famous parables. But how do we respond when someone close to us follows the prodigal path? What do we do with our feelings and fears of other’s judgement? Can we remain in relationship and if so, how? These and other questions will be discussed at our upcoming Loving Prodigals seminar, to be held on Tuesday, October 22nd, at 7pm at Connors Hill.

Pastor Tom will answer questions like “Why this topic? What is a prodigal? What is the journey of loving prodigals?" Guest speaker Mary Kassian will address the topic of Loving Prodigals from a Biblical and practical perspective. She is an award-winning author, speaker, and professor. The evening will end with a panel Q & A, followed by prayer for one another as we navigate the Loving Prodigals journey.

This event is for the 50+ audience. However, all adults are welcome. Please RSVP HERE so we can plan accordingly.

G@P [Grandparents at Prayer]

Our first G@P gathering of this ministry year will be on Tuesday, October 8th at 7 pm at our Southeast site.

This month’s theme is “Grateful Grandparenting - Making Thanksgiving a Part of Your Legacy.” Phil Callaway, a Canadian humour writer, author and speaker, will join us via video to talk with humour about the struggles and joys of being a grateful “Bumpa” to 14 grandchildren. We will also discuss how we can make Thanksgiving more than just a holiday but a part of our daily lives and the legacy we leave. And we’ll enjoy singing hymns and sharing around the tables.

Please bring a pie (store bought or homemade) cut into serving size pieces to share. Ice cream and whipping cream will be provided.

We hope you’ll join us!

Preparing to Finish Well Seminar

How can we prepare to finish well in our lives to the glory of God? We invite you to a seminar discussing this topic on Tuesday, May 14th, for our Finishing Well Workshop. This will be in the Fireside room at Connors Hill at 7pm and is for attendees of all three sites. Pastor Tom Anderst will share his discoveries from a 3-month study on this topic. We will look at questions like “Why do some finish their lives poorly?  What is the purpose of retirement? How can we prepare to finish well in life to the glory of God?” There will be time for questions and discussion. All participants will also receive a copy of Pastor Tom’s full study paper on this topic complete with resources.  We will also discuss your ideas and interest in future seminars for the 55+ crowd. This seminar is aimed for adults in the 50-65 range, but all adults are welcome. Please RSVP HERE so we can prepare enough copies of resources.
