TEACHING RECAP

Summary: It’s so hard to tell someone they need to change. But it’s so easy to share good news even if the person hearing will need to change because of it. The gospel is God’s comprehensive plan to fix everything, and it will radically transform everyone who believes it for the better. So how to we respond to the gospel and how do we share it as good news?

Main Points:

  1. The gospel is God’s comprehensive plan to set all things right.

  2. The gospel will radically transform anyone who believes.

  3. The gospel spreads as we share our stories motivated by love.

On-Ramps:

  • Have you given your life to Jesus?

  • Are you regularly telling your story with love and urgency?

  • What next step is Jesus inviting you to take today?

Discussion

  • What stands out to you from this passage? How does this passage most challenge or encourage you?

  • Read each occurrence of the word “reconciliation” in this passage. How would you describe reconciliation in your own words? What do you notice in the scripture about how the word is used?

  • Read 2 Corinthians 5:10 (the verse just before today’s passage). In what ways does the rest of the passage build on this verse?

  • Jeremy stated that the gospel is God’s plan to set all things right. Do you believe most people think the world needs to be fixed? What are some of the primary areas that our society is concerned with problems in our world, and how might these perspectives be helpful to start conversations about the gospel?

  • What are some big or little ways that God has transformed you? (Tell some Jesus stories!)

  • Jeremy said one key to sharing the gospel is just to “try.” Who in your life may be open to hearing more from you about how Jesus has changed you?

  • How do you want to respond to this passage in your daily life?

PRAYER

  • How can we pray for you as a group?

  • Next week: John 15:1-17
