TEACHING RECAP
Summary: It is increasingly difficult to know what is true, and to be able to make decisions based on that truth. In today’s passage, Jesus calls himself “the light of the world” and offers his guidance to those who look to him.
Main Points:
Jesus equates himself with the Old Testament pillar of fire and offers his guidance to those who look to him.
Jesus intensifies his claims of divinity and challenges us to carefully consider our response.
Jesus says that when he is “lifted up” we’ll see clearly who he is and what it means to follow him.
On-Ramps:
Know Jesus by reading the Bible every day.
Invite Jesus to teach and guide you in your daily life.
Follow Jesus by putting God and others before yourself.

Read Colossians 1:15-20 and 2:9-15. What do these passages say about the divinity of Jesus?
Jeremy mentioned that there are many teachers in our society today that teach things that are in direct opposition to another teacher that teaches on the same subject. Each one is teaching their own truth. What does Jesus’ claims about being God do to His statements about sin and eternal life?
Jesus’ words always demand a response of some kind. His offer to the world demands a response. Why do you think so many respond negatively?
Jesus is the light of the world. How does being reminded of His divinity change how you respond to him?
How does this truth change how you live? How you trust Him? How you follow Him?
How do YOU want to respond to this passage in your daily life?
