Discussion

  • What stands out to you from this passage? How does this passage most challenge or encourage you?

  • Read the story of the Ten Lepers found in Luke 17:11-19. How does Jesus’ interaction with the leper who returned in this story mirror his interaction with Judas in today’s passage? What is Jesus indicating to us in these passages regarding our response to His provision and work in our lives?

  • The Bible is filled with calls and directives to praise the Lord, especially throughout the Psalms. What do Psalm 28:7, Psalm 68:19, Psalm 97:1, and Psalm 136:1 say are some of the reasons we should live lives of praise to the Lord?

  • Thankfulness and gratitude are not completely foreign concepts to the world around us. But as a follower of Jesus, how do you see the difference between living with general thankfulness and living with a heart of praise? How do you believe this difference is present in your life?

  • Consider the ways God has directly provided for you in the past few months. Are there any significant ones that have been filling your heart with extraordinary joy? Are there any that you have taken for granted and not yet thanked Him for in a full way?

  • How do you want to respond to this passage in your daily life?

  • Take some time together as a group to share items of thankfulness and offer prayers of praise to God for His provision. Consider spending some time this week making a list of blessings you can praise God for.

PRAYER

  • How can we pray for you as a group?

  • Next week: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
